--Dr. Daniel L. Storer, medical director of emergency medical services, died Sept. 21, 2004 at age 59.
Storer co-founded the University Hospital Air Care program in 1984. He supervised all advanced cardiac life-support training for the American Heart Association Ohio Affiliate from 1992 to 1995.

-- Kenneth Clark, 46, Captain with the Cincinnati Fire Department died, July 4, 2007. A third- generation firefghter, Clark was the first to volunteer and loved to teach young firefighters.

-- Marine Cpl. Dustin Derga, 24, of Columbus, died when he was caught in enemy small arms fire during combat near Ubaydi, Iraq. Derga was assigned to the Marine Reserve's 3rd Battalion, 25th Regiment, 4th Division in Columbus.

 

 

--Scott M. Graham, 20, of New Philadephia, died December 10, 2006. He was a graduate of the Ohio Fire Academy and the Parmaedic School in Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio.

 

 

--Edward Jenik, EMT-B, FFII Captain, Highland Heights Fire Department died on September 27, 2006. Captain Jenik was 53 years old and had served 30 years as a Firefighter and EMT-Basic.

 

-- Heidi L. Mcdougall, 31, of Antwerp, Ohio died July 20, 2007 while serving her community in a crash involving an ambulance and semi-truck. Heidi worked at paulding County Hospital and as a papramedic at M&M medivan in Defiance.

 

-- Army Pfc. James H. Miller IV, 22, of suburban Cincinnati, died in an explosion while he was guarding a polling place in Ramadi for Iraq's Jan. 30 elections.

 

 

-- Army Pfc. Harrison J. Meyer, 20, of Worthington, died when his unit was hit with small arms fire in Ramadi. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team at Camp Howze, Korea.

 

 

-- National Guard Sgt. Michael Barkey, 22, of Canal Fulton, was killed in a vehicle crash caused by hostile action. Barkey was a member of the 1484th Transportation Company based in Akron.


--Captain Robin M. Broxterman, 37 of Colerain Township, was killed while fighting a fire. She was a 17-year veteran of the Colerain Township where she was the first woman to make the rank of captain.



--Chief Gregg A. Livingston, of Greenville Area Emergency Response Services Inc, died April 26, 2005. He was a member of the Union City, Ohio & Rescue 1979-1993; member of Darke County Local Emergency Planning Commision, Darke County Homeland Security Committee, Darke County
Mental Health Board of trustees, Darke County EMS member and past president, secretary of the Greater Miami Valley Ems Council and founder of the Darke County Fair Safety Committee.

 

 

--Army Sgt. Charles Kiser, 37, who grew up in Amelia, was killed outside Mosul by a car bomb. Kiser was with the 330th Military Police Division, a reserve unit based in Sheboygan, Wis.

 

--Brian W. Schira, 29, of Colerain Township was killed while fighting a fire. He served as a part-time firefighter for Colerain Township fire Department and with Delphi Township Fire Department.

 

 

--Francis M. Sebring, 81, passed away June 30, 2007. He was one of the first "Executive Directors" and a long time member of the Ohio Association of EMS, a past Program Coordinator of the Belmont Technical College EMS program and member of Dillonvale EMS.

 

-- Army Pfc. Branden F. Oberleitner, 20, of Worthington, with the 101st Airborne Division. He was killed in Fallujah, Iraq, after his unit was fired upon by a rifle-propelled grenade.

 

 

--Kelly J. Rager, 25, of Antwerp, Ohio died on July 20, 2007 while serving her community in a crash involving an ambulance and a semi-truck. Kelly served as an EMS for the city of Antwerp.

 

 


-- Chief Betty C. Reese, FF/Paramedic Assistant of Monroe Twp. Life Squad, Clermont county
died May 12, 2006





-- Marine Lance Cpl. Michael J. Smith Jr., 21, of Wintersville, died of injuries suffered from enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. The government did not release more details on how he died.

 

--Sammy Ray Smith , 64, of Antwerp, died on July 20, 2007 while serving his community in a crash involving an ambualnce and a semi-truck.

 

--Steven Richard Smith,45,of Cincinnati died June 30, 2007. Smith served as a Cincinnati firefighter/EMT, working at Engine Co. 49 in Madisonville.

 

 

--Paul W. "Rosie" Swander, 74, of Ohio City died February 2, 2008. He served as chief for over 30 years at the Ohio City Volunteer Fire Department. Swander was a member of the Firefighters Association and a 50-year member of the Eureka Lodge No. 592 where he served as past master.

 

 

--Jon Trainer, 38, of of Mechanicsburg, died July 24, 2007. Trainer served as a firefighter at the Mechanicsburg Fire Department.

 

--Lt. Paul Montavon Sr., veteran firefighter and paramedic at Whitewater Township in Hamilton County,died after responding to an automobile accident August 13, 2006.

 

--Kenneth Anthony Urbanek, 24, firefighter at Rittman EMS and Fire.

 

 -- David Garth Waymire, Vandalia Fire Division &  Butler Township Fire Department 30+ years of volunteer EMT/FF for both communities in Montgomery County, died April 2006.

 

 -- Christopher A.Wisner, 27, a part-time firefighter with Fairfield Township Fire Department, died January 17, 2008 .

 

--Rose Woodbridge, 56, died on July 28, 2006. While responding to a vehicle crash call and en route to the station, Ms. Woodbridge died from injuries received when the vehicle she was operating struck a utility pole. Ms. Woodbridge was a Volunteer firefighter and EMT-B for the Hanover Township Fire Department.

--Amanda M.White, 18, died on July 14, 2007 in a tragic car/train wreck. Ms. White completed her EMT-B courses in may 2007 and worked a the Rochester Volunteer Fire Department.

Jared W. Zimmerly , 20, died on September 9, 2007 in a tragic crashwhile responding to a call. He was a firefighter with the Prairie Township Fire Department.
