Jeffrey A. Leaming, Executive Director of the Ohio Division of Emergency Medical Services. Prior to his appointment as Director, Mr. Leaming, 48, of Xenia, Ohio, served as Fire Chief for the Xenia Fire Division. He began his career in the fire service as a volunteer firefighter in 1980, obtaining paramedic certification in 1983, and started as a firefighter/paramedic for the Xenia Fire Division in 1985. In 2003, he was promoted to Fire Chief after several years as a company officer and shift commander. Director Leaming has an Associate's Degree in Emergency Medical Services from Sinclair Community College, a Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Management from Wilberforce University, and a Master of Science Degree in Public Administration from Central Michigan University. He received his Chief Fire Officer (CFO) designation from the Commission on Professional Credentialing in 2010. Director Leaming is an adjunct instructor at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland, and also for Wilberforce University. Director Leaming is a life-long resident of Greene County, where he and his wife Gabrielle enjoy working on their small farm raising cattle. |

Jim Davis is Captain of the Columbus Fire Department and has served as an EMS supervisor for over 20 years. Mr. Davis is a rotor-wing flight nurse with Medflight of Ohio/Grant Lifeflight and an adjunct faculty member of the Columbus State Community College paramedic program. Mr. Davis received his paramedic certification in 1984. In 1994, he received his Associates of Applied Science in EMS and his Associates of Applied Science in Nursing in 1996, both from the Columbus State Community College. Mr. Davis received a Bachelor degree in Business Administration in 1998 from Mt. Vernon Nazarene University and a Master of Arts in Public Administration from Central Michigan University in 2005. He is a member of the Ohio Association of Professional Firefighters and on the city of Westerville Recreation and Parks Advisory Board. |

Geoff Dutton is the media relations director for the Ohio Department of Public Safety and was appointed to the EMS Board in 2011. Mr. Dutton previously served as a deputy inspector general, investigating waste, fraud, and abuse in state agencies. Prior to his state service, he worked as a newspaper reporter for 16 years in Florida and Ohio, most recently at The Columbus Dispatch. He received his Bachelor degree in journalism from Ohio University. Originally from Toledo, Ohio, he lives in Bexley with his wife, Melissa, and their two sons. |

Pam Bradshaw has been a member of the Division of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Board since 2006 representing the EMS educators in the State of Ohio. She began her EMS career in 1981 as an EMT-B with Porter Township Rescue Association. In 1985, Ms. Bradshaw became an Advanced EMT and in 1993, received her paramedic certification. Ms. Bradshaw is presently the chief at Porter Township Rescue. She is also the EMS coordinator at Collins Career Center, where she started their paramedic program. She is currently a BLS, ACLS, AMLS and PEPP instructor. In 2003, she completed her Master of Science in Nursing from Otterbein College. Ms. Bradshaw is an active member of the Ohio Instructor/Coordinator Society, Ohio Association of Emergency Medical Services (OAEMS), and the National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE). Dr. Deanna Dahl-Grove, M.D is an assistant professor of Pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She is a graduate of Case Western Reserve Medical School and completed her pediatric residency and pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. She has been an attending in the Pediatric Emergency Department at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital for the past eleven years. She is also involved in ongoing teaching activities for University Hospitals Critical Care Transport Teams and local paramedics in the evaluation and management of acutely ill and injured children. She is also the pediatric emergency medicine fellowship director, a member of the Cuyahoga County Emergency Medical Advisory committee, Cuyahoga County Child Mortality Review committee, and Parent Assisted Child Mortality committee. Matthew Dick is the CEU Coordinator for the Delaware Area Career Center in Delaware, Ohio, where he has been an EMS Instructor since 1984 and a fire instructor since 1986. He became an Ohio EMT in 1977 when he was a volunteer on the Centerburg Fire Department. Mr. Dick became the first civilian EMT hired by the Delaware County Sheriffs Office in January 1978 and continued with the county until the EMS split from the Sheriffs office four months later. In March 1980, he was hired by the City of Delaware and graduated from the Ohio Fire Academy in Reynoldsburg in June 1980. On August 1991, Mr. Dick started on Concord Township Fire Department where he retired as a Lieutenant, Fire Investigator, and training officer in July 2010. Mr. Dick has attended The Ohio State University, Ashland University, and is currently enrolled in the Nursing Program at Excelsior College. He has been a Paramedic since August of 1990. In 1995, he completed OPOTA and has been commissioned as a Deputy Sheriff for Delaware County until his retirement. | ||

Vickie Graymire, RN, MS, CNS, will serve as one of our newest members to the State EMS Board. In her role as trauma program manager at Grant Medical Center, Vickie oversees all aspects of the trauma program to maintain level I trauma center verification. Vickie has an extensive background in trauma, critical care and emergency nursing. Prior to her role at Grant, she was trauma program manager, clinical nurse specialist for nine years at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio. She is a member of the State Trauma committee, the Society of Trauma Nurses, and National Emergency Nurses. She has been active in the development of state and regional trauma system, serves as a reviewer of trauma centers for the American College of Surgeons and is a national educator for trauma nurses. Vickie has a diploma from St. Joseph's Hospital in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, a BSN from Bowling Green University, and a Master's degree in nursing from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. |

Deanna Harris, RN, BSN, CEN, EMT-B, began her career as a volunteer firefighter in Medina County in 1986. She then went on to earn a BSN from the University of Akron in 1992, obtaining extensive experience in emergency and critical care nursing. Using this expertise, she worked for two law firms as a legal nurse consultant. Since 2004, Ms. Harris has been employed as a flight nurse specialist with Cleveland Metro Life Flight. While at MetroHealth, she has developed an interest in injury prevention and is widely noted to be a resource on this topic. Currently, she is an active member of Lake, Lorain, and Medina counties Safe Communities programs. Ms. Harris is an EMS continuing education instructor and teaches EMT-Basic students at the Medina County Career Center. She has lectured on the national, state and local levels. |

Daryl McNutt has been the fire chief since 2003 after being employed by the Village of Whitehouse for 26 years. Chief McNutt is a member of the Lucas County EMS Board, Ohio Fire Chief's Association and Lucas County Fire Chief's Association. Mark Marchetta, RN, BS, NREMT-P, is the director of EMS Education and Trauma Services for Aultman Hospital, located in Canton, Ohio. Mark has been involved in EMS for over 22 years. He has served on the EMS Board since 1999 where he has chaired many committees and work groups. He is the author of a best-selling paramedic review test preparation book, How to Prepare for the EMT-Paramedic Exam. He has published 17 EMS research studies including a 2007 study on prehospital CPAP that has gained state, national, and international attention. Mr. Marchetta has received four international research awards for best scientific research, one International research award for best educational research, two international awards for best research presentation, and is a past chairperson of the National Association of EMS Educators Research committee. He is a member of the Advisory Board for the Prehospital Care Research Forum at UCLA Medical Center and a volunteer firefighter and paramedic with his local fire department. |

Dr. John Pakiela is the chair of the Medical Oversight Committee and has served the Emergency Medical Services Board since 2005. Dr. Pakiela has been active in the EMS community as a provider, educator, and medical director for the past 18 years. He is currently the medical director of paramedic education at Akron General Medical Center in Akron, where he is also an attending physician in the emergency department. He is also an associate medical director for MedFlight of Ohio, having previously been employed at Cleveland Metro Life Flight for 7 years, the last 5 plus years as the Chief Flight Physician/Medical Director. Dr. Pakiela is also a site surveyor for the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Services (CAMTS), a national board member of the Air Medical Physician Association, the chief medical officer for the Ohio Association of Critical Care Transport, and he also serves on numerous other national committees. In addition, he was a volunteer firefighter/EMS provider for the Kearsarge Fire Department which is located just outside of his hometown, Erie, Pennsylvania. Dr. Pakiela received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from John Carroll University in Cleveland in 1994. He received his medical degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1998. His training in emergency medicine was completed at South Pointe Hospital in the Cleveland Clinic Health System in 2002. Wendy Pomerantz has served on the EMS Board since January, 2006. She is chairperson of the Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) committee and also serves on the Medical Oversight committee, the Grants committee, the Research committee, and the Trauma Registry Advisory subcommittee. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and her medical school degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. She completed a pediatrics residency at Children's Medical Center of Dallas, a pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, and a Master's of Science in Epidemiology at the University of Cincinnati. Currently, she is a pediatric emergency medicine physician with a faculty appointment as an associate professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. She is one of the co-directors of Injury Free Coalition for Kids in Greater Cincinnati, member of the Ohio AAP State of Ohio committee on Injury and Poison Prevention and chairperson of their Emergency Medicine committee, a member of the Cincinnati American Red Cross Medical Assistance Team, and as a member of the Greater Cincinnati Safe Kids Coalition. Her interests include injury and poison prevention, ATV and motor bike injuries, education, and geographic information systems. |

Bruce Shade has been involved in emergency services since 1972, starting with Granger Township, Medina, Ohio, as a volunteer firefighter/EMT. He worked for the city of Cleveland from in a variety of positions from 1975 until his retirement in 2006 as commissioner of EMS as assistant safety director. Since 1977, Mr. Shade has worked as an EMT and paramedic instructor at Lakeland Community College and Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C), where he continues to teach. He has also lectured at local, regional, statewide and national EMS conferences. He also served as a part-time paramedic/firefighter for Willowick and Willoughby, where he is still employed. Dr. Steven M. Steinberg is the director of the Division of Critical Care, Trauma and Burn at The Ohio State University, a Level 1 Trauma Center. He also serves as the Professor of Surgery, and is the vice-chairman for Clinical Affairs for the Department of Surgery. Dr. Steinberg is board certified in surgery and critical care, is a member of numerous medical societies, including the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the Columbus Surgical Society, and the Central Surgical Association. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is on the Central Ohio Trauma System Board of Trustees. He has been an invited presenter at many national meetings and is multi-published in numerous peer review journals in a range of topics. Brian Springer is an assistant professor at the Wright State University (WSU) Department of Emergency Medicine and Director of the WSU Division of Tactical Emergency Medicine. He is board certified in emergency medicine and primary care sports medicine. Dr Springer has served on the Region II RPAB since 2006, and has been a member of the EMS Board since 2010. Dr. Springer received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Dr. Carol Cunningham was appointed State Medical Director for the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Division of EMS in July 2004 and is a board certified emergency physician at Akron General Medical Center. She is the current chairperson of the National Association of State EMS Officials (NASEMSO) Medical Directors Council and serves on Ohio's State Medical Coordination Committee. Dr. Cunningham received her medical degree and completed an emergency medicine residency at the University of Cincinnati. She has seven years of experience as a flight physician, eleven years of experience as a tactical EMS medical director, and is a fellow in the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Cunningham completed the National Preparedness Leadership Initiative at the Harvard Kennedy School of Executive Education and is currently enrolled in the Homeland Security Executive Leadership Program at The Naval Postgraduate School & The U.S. Department of Homeland Security Center for Homeland Defense and Security. She is the 2012 recipient of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine's James Keaney Leadership Award. Dr. Cunningham was appointed to the EMS Examination Task Force by the American Board of Emergency Medicine as an item writer for the EMS subspecialty examination in addition to her continued duties as an oral board examiner. She is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of EMS (JEMS), a contributing editor for the EMS Insider, and an ad hoc member of the Department of Health and Human Services/Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's Health Care Technology and Decision Science panel.
