National EMS Week acknowledges the men and women who brave all types of situations to save people’s lives. This year’s theme "New Century, New Hope" highlights the countless ways EMS agencies will continue to ensure our health, protection and physical well being in the 21st century. The week also provides an opportunity for the public to learn about injury prevention, safety awareness and emergency preparedness.

Ohioans receive pre-hospital emergency medical care from approximately 38,000 EMS personnel who work with nearly 1,700 EMS agencies across the state. Many of these EMS providers volunteer their time and services to meet the medical needs of their communities.
